About Me

In the summer of 2017, I emailed 52 professors asking for a position in their lab. One professor responded, and as a 10th grader I started working in an Indiana University School of Medicine psychiatry lab.  The overarching goal of the lab was to find a cure to alcohol and opioid addictions. My project focused specifically on creating an improved mouse-model to use in other experiments. Additionally, last summer I interned for Eli Lilly, one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world. I worked on the global development team for the drug Emgality which has been approved for the treatment of migraines and cluster headaches.

Fast forward to now, I am currently a sophomore at the University of Michigan studying biopsychology, cognition, and neuroscience and minoring in writing. I hope to one day attend dental school and practice oral surgery. Since my first experience in the lab I have been fascinated with psychology and clinical psychology research. I have had first-hand experience in the benefits this line of research can provide to society, and I hope this project expresses my passion for the subject!

About the Project

With the constant developments in science and technology today, the nature of psychology and neuroscience research is changing. Research efforts regarding Alzheimer’s, opioid addiction, traumatic brain injuries and more are widespread right now. The treatments that will come from this research will affect society now and for many years in the future. Because the majority of this research must be conducted on animals, it has received scrutiny. However, it is imperative that this research stays relevant to the public and continues to receive funding both from the government and private investors.

I designed this website to highlight the importance of current research being done in this field. I want readers to understand that the future benefits will outweigh the small costs of conducting research on animals.

This website will lead you through different texts and genres centered around psychology research developments and the implications of current research happening today.
